About the Book
What follows is the story of my journey to getting to where I now am. It is my hope that this book provides
practical and friendly counsel for those whose life has changed considerably through the death of, or
separation from, a partner. I see my mission in writing it as aiding your journey to an easier and healthier
conclusion than it otherwise could be.
In the first three chapters I tell you about me. It is sometimes not a pretty story but, rest assured, it does have a happy ending. In sharing my path, your own may seem less lonely and you may find enough common ground to give you the hope you need to persevere. I did it and so can you.
The remaining chapters contain my advice in a step-by-step format that I hope is easy to follow and brings some clarity to this confusing time. I outline the processes I have found to be most constructive in establishing a sound holistic approach to restoring your wealth and health. They won’t necessarily heal the hole in your heart or the
dent in your soul, but they may assist you in dealing and living with them successfully, and restoring your
self-esteem and faith in yourself.
When you feel alone, I have discovered, there is always a hand that reaches down to support you. That hand
may provide the hands of others for you to hold, or it might send you this book. There may be many others advising you at this time, but few will have been where you are. I have, and I am happy to share my knowledge with you. Being suddenly single is not a life sentence in a dismal solitary cell from which there is no escape.
You may not be in a position to see it now, but in your new-found state is an exciting opportunity. From this point on, the road to finding the secure, wise, healthy, expansive and fulfilled person that is you - and only you - is yours.
